Teen/Young Adult Auditions July 11, 12 and 13

Brush Creek Players are seeking a cast for “You Know I Don’t Love You” – the 2015 Teen/Young Adult production. Open auditions will be held for actors and would-be actors aged 13 thru mid-20s at the theater (11535 Silverton Road, between Silverton and Salem) at 6 pm on Saturday, July 11, Sunday, July 12 and Monday, July 13. Director Michael Wood will be casting the show using cold readings and other impromptu exercises, so no special preparation is needed.

The script, written by Emily Wood and Michael Wood, visits with the Aldous Huxley High School class of 2005 as they gather for their 10th reunion. Old friendships kindle to become something more, past relationships flare up in the magnifying glass of memory, and yesterday’s heroes explore what it means to pursue your dreams.

The show will open Friday, September 18 and run three weekend (with performances on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays).

No Melodrama, but Teen/Young Adult Auditions Coming Soon

Brush Creek is sorry to announce that we will not be able to produce the annual melodrama — we could not quite assemble the cast necessary, even for a staged reading. However, we are on target to put on our teen/young adult show, with auditions beginning July 11.

We welcome all actors and would-be actors ages 13 through mid-20s to audition for “You Know I Don’t Love You” — a comedy about relationships and what we do to survive them, written by Emily Wood and Michael Wood. Open auditions will be held at 6 pm Sat, July 11; 6 pm Sun, July 12; and 6 pm Mon, July 13.

Performances will run from Fri, Sept 18 thru Sun, Oct 4. For more info, comment on this page or contact director Michael Wood at mdwelpis@comcast.net or 503-508-3682.

And, of course, we already have a cast for next November’s production of Neil Simon’s “I Ought to Be in Pictures,” directed by John Sams. The cast is already hard at work on closing our season with this marvelous and touching comedy.

News about coming productions!

First off, this year’s summer melodrama will be a staged reading — watch for more information regarding the July schedule and come check it out!

Brush Creek would also like to announce the cast for next November’s production of Neil Simon’s “I Ought to Be in Pictures.” Libby will be played by Emily Wood. Steffy will be played by Charlotte Bohlmann. And Herb will be played by Michael Wood. As you can see, they are getting an early start — be sure to plan to attend this show when it opens the first Friday in November (for a three weekend run).

Finally, for the teens and young adults out there, this year’s production will be “You Know I Don’t Love You.” Open auditions will be held at 6 pm Sat, July 11; 6 pm Sun, July 12; and 6 pm Mon, July 13.  Performances will run from Fri, Sept 18 thru Sun, Oct 4. For more info, comment on this page or contact director Michael Wood at mdwelpis@comcast.net or 503-508-3682. Brush Creek loves actors and would-be actors of all experience levels!

Get in on Brush Creek’s 2015 Summer Melodrama!

Auditions! Auditions! Auditions!

You still have a chance to play the heroine . . . or the hero . . . or the villain . . . .or any of an assortment of intriguing characters in Brush Creek’s 2015 Summer Melodrama.

At 6 pm on Sunday the 14th and Monday the 15th, we will be holding further auditions to complete casting “Love in the Cucumber Patch or The Pickled Road to Romance” by Janet Carter (with additional dialogue by Shannon Copeland and Sonya Heard). This light-hearted melodrama will be produced for three weekends beginning Friday, July 17. It is a wonderful opportunity for actors (or would-be actors) of all experience levels!

“Accidentally Yours” Postponed — Upcoming Auditions

In case you haven’t heard, we had to delay “Accidentally Yours” until next year. This marvelous little comedy will be back — just not for a while.

But the good news is that we have a couple of sets of auditions in June.

At 1 pm, Saturday, June 6 and 6 pm, Sunday, June 7, we will be holding auditions for the annual melodrama. This year’s selection is “Love in the Cucumber Patch or The Pickled Road to Romance”
by Janet Carter (with additional dialogue by Shannon Copeland and Sonya Heard). Performances will be held from Fri, July 17 thru Sun, Aug 2 (Fri & Sat eve; Sun mat). Contact director Norman Gouveia at NormanJr1@msn.com for more info.

At 6 pm, Tuesday, June 9 and 6 pm, Wednesday, June 10, we will be holding auditions for “I Ought to Be in Pictures” a comedy by Neil Simon. Performances will be from Fri, Nov 6 thru Sun, Nov 22 (Fri & Sat eve; Sun mat). Contact director John Sams at sams426@comcast.net for more info.

“Bench” Completes Its Run — “Accidentally Yours” Up Next!

Following the success of “A Bench in the Sun” and “The Search for the Fairy Princess,” Brush Creek’s 2015 season is off to a wonderful start. Mark you calendars for the June 5 opening of our next marvelous comedy, the 1947 farce “Accidentally Yours” by Pauline Williams Snapp.

Director Michael Wood and the cast promise a wonderful family comedy, full of confusion, laughter and memorable characters. Wood describes the play as “set in a more innocent place and time that probably never really existed, but can still provide us a fun place to visit.”

Join small-town college professor Spencer Mosby and his wife, Gladys, who is convinced that Spencer is the next great American author — and Spencer would never want to disappoint Gladys! Enjoy the successful but tongue-tied author Lawrence Conwell as he “pursues” Spencer’s niece Vivienne. And along the way you can meet (among others) Spencer’s secretary, the proper Miss Featherby, the Mosbys’ “help,” Olive, a somewhat befuddled psychiatrist named Dr. Field, and the redoubtable Mrs. Estercrazy — oops, that’s Esterhazy.

And, of course, there is the beautiful Jeanie. Or is that “Genie”?

The play runs for three weekends beginning June 5 and closing June 21 — performances are at 7 pm Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 pm on Sundays. You can find more weekend fun for $10 anywhere!
