The Mystery of the Kitchen Table
Teen/Young Adult Show

Written by Michael Wood and Emily Wood

Directed by Michael Wood

This story is written in the tradition of the great parlor mysteries –
the story spans almost one hundred years,
with murder mysteries to be solved in 1921, 1961 and 2014,
all centered on the classic Winthorpe Mansion.

What mystery does the house
– and its antique mahogany kitchen table — have to share?

The ensemble cast provides a variety of roles for both males and females — all those aged 13 through mid-20s are welcome to audition.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

The show will run weekends from Friday, November 7 thru Sunday, November 23.

Auditions: Saturday, September 6 at 1 pm
at Brush Creek Playhouse.

“Merchant of Venice” Removed from the Schedule

We were not able to assemble a cast for “Merchant,” so we are regretfully removing it from our 2014 schedule. Maybe next year.

“Prunella in the Springs” opens this Friday.

And our next show, “The Mystery of the Kitchen Table,” (our teen/young adult show) will still be casting later this month for its November performance schedule.

“Prunella in the Springs” to Open Friday, August 8

This year’s offering for Brush Creek’s annual melodrama is “Prunella in the Springs,” written by Shannon Copeland and Janet Carter. Director Norman Gouveia gives us the following “lowdown” on the show:

“Eeeevvvelll Slick Slimeball (boo! hiss!) wants to get his hands on the mineral springs that belongs to Mrs. Purity Goodheart & her lovely, innocent daughter, Prunella (aahhhh!).

“Slimeball has a plan to turn Hubbard into the Mecca of the Mid-Willamette Valley. He has a dupe, Poindexter, and a secret wife in Scarlet Bareall, the proprietress of the Marquam Saloon & Gamboling House. Helping Prunella is our hero, Chester A. Bighunk, who is loyal and kind and good (aahhh!). Will Slick’s plan fail? Will he get the Springs? Only the piano player, Willamette Willy, who has a secret past, knows—–or DOES he????”

Come join the fun!

The show will open Friday, August 8 and run three weekends before closing on Sunday August 24. Performances are 7 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings and 2 pm on Sunday afternoons.
