Casting Call for “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night” 2012 Teen/Young Adult Show

After successfully staging a teen/young adult mystery last fall, Brush Creek Players are pleased to stage another mystery, “It Was a Dark and Stormy Night,” by Bob Greenwade.  Open auditions for actors aged 13 to mid-20s will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 1 pm and Tuesday, September 25 at 6 pm.  Call-backs will be scheduled as necessary.

“Bob Greenwade has written a play with several twists and turns – and a good dose of plain old fun,” said Michael Wood, who will be directing again this year.  “It’s a mystery in the classic style, with a group of strangers gathering together in a mysterious old country home – and it is indeed a dark and stormy night.”

The auditions, which will use cold readings from the script, will be held at Brush Creek Playhouse, located at 11535 Silverton Road between Salem and Silverton (the intersection of Silverton and Brush Creek roads).  The show requires 3 to 5 males and 3 to 5 females – if sufficient actors are available, the director hopes to run two complete casts, providing some flexibility in the performance schedule.

The show will open November 2 and run through November 18, with either three or four performances each weekend, depending upon the number of casts.

Work Party Sun 9/16/2012

Brush Creek Players will be having a work party this Sunday September 16, 2012 from 9 AM to 6 PM.  We will be doing some more clean up and painting on the interior of the building.  We are also hoping to finish up the siding on the storage shed.  If you have time come by and help us.  Your volunteer time will help us meet the matching grant for the historical restoration work to the outside of the building received from the Oregon Cultural Trust (http://www.culturaltrust.org/).

Come see the progress and enjoy the sunshine!

A Doll House, the classic play by Henrik Ibsen, comes to Brush Creek Playhouse

Brush Creek Players are very excited to bring to life one of the classics of the theater — A Doll House, by Henrik Ibsen, a groundbreaking tale of marriage, of relationships, of growth and of redemption.

“Ibsen’s characters bring depth and reality to his plays – he wrote about people, not caricatures, making his plays both delightful and challenging for the cast,” said Michael Wood, who is directing the show with Ryan Laack. “Ryan and I have been lucky enough to work with a cast with the ability to bring those characters to life, with all the complexities of real people.”

The show will open September 28 and run three weekends to close on October 14, with evening performances at 7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as 2 pm matinees on Sundays.

Tickets are $10 general admission, with discounted tickets available for students ($8) and children under 12 ($7) and seniors 60 and older ($7).  They can be purchased in advance at the following locations:

Item 9 Opportunity Shoppe (formerly the Clothes Garden), 208 E. Main Street, Silverton (503) 873-7362

The business meeting will include a financial report, proposed changes to the Bylaws, and election of the 2013 president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
